Are you a toddler with an awesome parent/grandparent/caregiver who likes to take you to fun, creative weekday programs? Join us on the first and third Thursdays of the month for our popular child and caregiver preschool program, PNC Tiny Thursdays. Ages 3-6 and a caregiver (baby siblings welcome) are invited for story time, a gallery visit and a make-and-take art project. Every month features a different theme, and each week investigates new stories and DAI collection artworks.
Take part in an online and interactive conversation about New Beginnings: An American Story of Romantics and Modernists in the West. Guided by a facilitator, you will use close-looking and discussion to explore select artworks and catch a preview of the exhibition with this 60-minute virtual Zoom program. Offered only on select days and times while the exhibition is on-view. Advanced registration is required.
Join us in the Mimi & Stuart Rose Auditorium for a special screening of PBS documentary, “Painting Taos”. The film reveals how in the early 20th century, six relatively unknown painters -collectively known as the Taos Society of Artists - helped turn a small mountain village in New Mexico into the premier American art destination. Remarks by Chief Curator, Dr. Jerry N. Smith will be at 6:30; film begins at 6:45pm.
Curious about the process of painting outdoors? Many of the artists featured in New Beginnings: An American Story of Romantics and Modernists in the West painted directly from nature or within their community. Come create original watercolor paintings right on DAI’s grounds! While we welcome all ages, these workshops are ideal for ages 16 and up. Space is limited and spots fill up quickly. Advanced reservation is required. Weather permitting. Rain plan: workshop will occur in Hale Cloister.
Guided by a museum educator, each ARTventure explores the artistic processes of a highlighted artwork in the museum’s collection. Each month is a different experience for the whole family to enjoy! This in-person program is perfect for all ages and all levels of artistic ability. Individual creativity and self-expression is encouraged! Drop-ins welcome.
